

Trouble Puppet has Suspended Animation
While Founder and Janitor Connor Hopkins is working as a Technical Theater teacher, Trouble Puppet will be hanging around (lots of marionette puns here, even though we don't generally do marionettes.) We'll pick ourselves back up again in due time. Until then, small projects will find their way out into the world. We'll do our best to let the world know.

UNDARK tells the true story of the young women who worked as painters of luminous watch-faces, compasses and instruments that were crucial to the American armed forces fighting in World War I, focusing on the horrifying results of their exposure to radium paint and their struggle for justice.

Summer Workshop in Building and Performing
Learn by doing as Trouble Puppet plunges back into the wilderness, reimagining our 2019 operetta American Blood Song. Making new puppets, both tabletop and shadows, we will explore a new approach to the show in a two-part workshop focusing first on Building and then on Performance.

TWO-PART WORKSHOP SCHEDULE: building and rehearsing/performing.
BUILDING: two weeks, three sessions per week. Sun-Tue-Thurs, 5/28 through 6/8. Sun 12-3:00, Tue/Thu 6:30-9:30
REHEARSING: 1 week, Sun 6/11 through Sat 6/17th. 7:00-10:00. One night off, Wednesday June 14th.
PERFORMANCE: Saturday, June 17, 8 pm @ The Vortex. Open to the Public.

Cost: Suggested donation of $100 to hold your spot, but smaller donations are also welcome and sufficient for signup.
[Austin, TX]-- Trouble Puppet Theater Company presents an exciting new workshop exploring the art of puppetry through building puppets and performance. Participants in this workshop intensive will learn construction of tabletop puppets, covering materials, tools, engineering, and design. Learn it by doing it! Participants may come to some or all the building days, the more you’re there, the more you’ll learn. Using our newly made puppets we will explore storytelling and performance techniques on the Eloise Stage at The VORTEX, culminating with a public performance of scenes from an original Trouble Puppet show-in-progress. Attendance is required for all 5 rehearsals and the public performance. Spots are limited, reserve yours today!
